My Soar Throat

Cold season is alive and well at our house. It seems the noses of my littles only stop dripping so that they can get a cough instead. Even my hubby, who is usually as healthy as a horse (what does that mean, anyway?) has succumbed to a full-blown man-cold. I have the cure for what ails you though (or at least something yummy to soothe you) and am making up a batch right now as I, ahem, have come down with my own scratchy throat.

Homemade Ginger Tea with Lemon & Honey

3 cups of water
2 inch piece of fresh ginger, chopped coursely
1/2 a lemon, squeezed
Honey to taste

Boil water. Place chopped ginger and lemon juice in teapot. Pour hot water over top. Steep for 5 minutes. Add honey to your desired sweetness, and enjoy.

The longer this tea steeps, the stronger and spicier the ginger will get, so you may want to add more hot water if you find it has gotten too strong.

The perfect remedy for my sore throat today, and also good if you have morning sickness or the stomach flu as ginger is an anti-nauseant.
